Hot art wet city – NSFW

Over the past few years, being involved in the local art and photo community, I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting some very amazing people that are doing some cool things in the art community.  The guys that put on the One Inch Button show & the Hot Art Card show, Jim Hoehnle & Chris Bentzen are some of these fine people.

Just a few months ago I was involved with the latest installment of the Hot Art Card show, and a few months before that Chris has approached me on twitter to do an interview for another project of theirs called Hot Art Wet City.  The ladder took a lot of time to coordinate, but I was stoked to wake up this morning to the final cut of the video up online… and not only one, but TWO parts!

So first, here is my 2012 trading card:
I want your skull
i want your skull - back

The interviews concentrate on my fine art nude work with the second concentrating solely on my “Private Portrait” series.  I’d like to thank Hilary for the great interview and the impromptu portrait session (these photos can be seen in the video).  Hilary was comfortable to talk with and was a good distraction from Chris’ camera in my face. Kidding, Chris was great behind the camera, the footage proves it!

So here are the interviews, including some work that isn’t even on my website yet!

Interview with Vancouver photographer Syx Langemann
MUSIC: “Fuzzy Rain Doesn’t Touch the Ground” by Natalie Vermeer
INTERVIEW: Hilary Henegar
VIDEO & EDIT: Chris Bentzen

Syx Langemann talks about his nude photo series “Private Portraits.” See more of the photos here. Viewer discretion is advised:

Make sure you check out Hot Art Wet City for more interviews with local artists, including Shwa Keirstead whom I hope to be shooting a portrait of soon…  in clothes.

Finally, if you are a photographer, or a friend of a photographer, please check out my “Nude in the Environment” series of photo workshops.  These workshops will take students and models to inspiring locations to help create amazing images.  The next workshop is scheduled for Gabriola Island, July 21st & 22nd followed by Cabo San Lucas, Nov 16th, 17th & 18th.
