Alexia Flux – 30in30 (NSFW)

I’m not sure what you look like in the mornings after a 12 hour night shift, but I am sure most of us don’t look this good.  And really, how many of us are going to meet up with a photographer at 8am after a full night of work to do nudes.

Alexia Flux, that’s who! Alexia wins the award for the most dedicated model!

Alexia and I made contact on ModelMayhem, a website dedicated to connecting Models, Makeup, Hair stylists and Photographers without the need for an agency or representation.  That being said, I have had some flaky models from that site, but overall it’s been a great place to meet new models and work on collaborations together.

Having planned this shoot without ever meeting Alexia, and knowing that the shoot was going to be early in the morning (so likely the sun wouldn’t be much help) I planned from the onset to use small strobe to light the scene.  I found out through our conversations that she had a ground floor apartment.  I would be able to throw a flash outside and have it light a room through the window.

So that I exactly where I started when I entered her apartment at 8:15am.  SB-910 on a stick outside the apartment.  That flash was triggered using a Pocket Wizard to ensure strobe each time the shutter released.

The shoot mainly took place in her bedroom in a few different locations.  Once I got the light set outside and started to shoot, there really wasn’t much time to shoot in any other areas.  So this shoot compared to the previous ones, took place in one room instead of throughout the apartment.

My favorite shots from this shoot are the one with Alexia holding her lamp while precariously perched on her dresser.  I really like the shadows the light created.  As well as the last photos of the session.  I like the portrait feel to these shots.

Thanks to Alexia for inviting me into her space so very early in the morning, and giving me every last bit of energy she had for the shoot.  Your dedication is greatly appreciated.
